Types of Batteries

Lithium-Ion Batteries

Lithium-Ion batteries are mainly accepted. They can be found in many things like:

  1. Mobile/Cell phones

  2. Electric toothbrushes

  3. Hair clippers

  4. Laptops/Tablets

  5. Electric shavers

  6. EReaders - Kindles

  7. Power tool batteries

  8. Bluetooth speakers

  9. Cordless vacuum batteries

  10. E-bike batteries

  11. Wireless headphones

  12. Hearing Aid Batteries

Other Accepted Batteries

Call2Recycel also accepts lithium primary batteries, alkaline batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries, and nickel-metal hydride batteries. Please DO NOT bring lead-acid batteries or damaged batteries.

Alkaline Batteries - These are single-use (primary) batteries. They typically use zinc and manganese dioxide with an alkaline electrolyte (potassium hydroxide). They cannot be safely recharged.

Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) Batteries - These are rechargeable (secondary) batteries. They use nickel oxide hydroxide and metallic cadmium as electrodes. They can be recharged hundreds of times but are largely being replaced by Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) or Lithium-ion batteries today.

Despite being different, both battery types share standard consumer sizes (like AA, AAA, C, and D), and both use an alkaline electrolyte.
